Mentor Profile: Shawn Cole

One of the mentor’s that has helped me throughout college has been the local musician and songwriter Shawn Cole. Shawn Cole has helped me pursue my own career in music. Through him, I have been able make money doing what I love, performing music. He has been playing music his entire life, and has worked as a professional musician for the last ten years. He also works as a booking agent, through his agency Imagine Entertainment, promotes local musicians, and steers them toward success.

From his website: “A versatile musician, Shawn Cole has a reputation for playing several instruments at the same time. He is an accomplished harmonica player, drummer and guitarist. His ability to play those three instruments at the same time while singing has led many people to call him The One-Man Quartet. Cole energetically combines several genres of music in his live performances. He performs nearly 200 shows each year!”

Throughout my time as a student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Shawn Cole has given me advice in regards to music as well as general life advice. Through his help, I have been able to pursue music, and simultaneously attend college. I greatly admire his musicianship, and his work ethic, and try to model my own musicianship in a style that resembles his.
